CWS Anger Management Support Group
Anger is really a secondary emotion with a wide range of intensity, from mild irritation and frustration to rage. It is a reaction to a perceived emotional threat to us, our loved ones, our property, our self-image, or some part of our identity. Anger is a warning bell that tells us that something is wrong with our emotional balance.
Many people all around the world suffer from an inability to control their anger, mainly stemming from an inability to understand the true source and nature of it. This struggle is normally internalized, leaving many suffering in silence, with the world only getting a glimpse of their struggle on the few occasions the may lose control and lash out in a fit of rage.
We at the CRUZ WELLNESS SOCIETY have started a support group so that these persons no longer have to endure this struggle alone. The group is composed of people who come together in weekly meetings for the purpose of working toward recovery from emotional difficulties. Our members are from many walks of life and are of diverse ages, economic status, social and educational backgrounds. The only requirement for membership is a desire to become well emotionally.
Our program will be beneficial to anyone experiencing any emotional symptoms associated with anger, symptoms as diverse as depression, broken or strained relationships, grief, anxiety, low self-esteem, panic, abnormal fears, resentment, jealousy, guilt, despair, fatigue, tension, boredom, loneliness, withdrawal, obsessive and negative thinking, worry, compulsive behavior and a variety of other emotional issues.
As an anonymous program, we respect the confidentiality of our members at all times. As a spiritual program, there is an emphasis on a higher power. Experience has shown these types of programs works equally well for those with or without religious beliefs or affiliations.
We provide a warm and accepting group setting in which to share experiences without fear of criticism. Through weekly support meetings, members discover they are not alone in their struggles. We may each have different symptoms, but the underlying emotions are the same or similar.
Our group meets at 4:00pm every Sunday starting May 3rd, 2014 at the top floor of the YMCA Building, Pinfold Street, Bridgetown Barbados.
This support group is supported and maintained by member & community contributions and each member and group is encouraged to share in the financial support of the group.
About Our Meetings: This group is not a medical or psychiatric service, nor does it provide personal or family counseling. Leadership of group meetings rotates and is non-professional. The leader's function is simply to conduct the meeting, not to serve as an authority. Our meetings are structured to assist individuals who want to achieve and maintain emotional health by understanding and utilizing the tools provided in their daily lives.
